August 12, 2009School Blues...kind of."You forfeit your chance to live your life at its fullest when you withhold your best efforts in learning." - Mr. Forte (my AP U.S. History teacher)
When you start off a syllabus with that you know that this is going to be a class to remember. I sure hope it is. I don't care how nerdy or geeky it makes me sound but I am truly excited for this class! I can tell that Mr. Forte really does love history just by the way that he speaks about it. He's even writting a book on the Civil War. (which I will buy if when it gets published.) Summer was fun. Buzznet was fun (although I neglected visiting it more :[ ) But it's time to get serious. The first day of school involved with most of my teachers telling me how my Junior year was going to be the hardest year. Gee, thanks...I nearly hyperventalated in the middle of my AP Language class. I love you guys. I really do. I'll check back on the weekends and comment/buzz when I can.
"Set high but realistic expectations for yourself and convert every challenge you face into oppourtunity. The motto of our classroom will be Carpe Diem! (Latin for "Seize the Day")"
Did I mention how excited I am for this class??

June 12, 20091 Year Buzznet-versary!As of today, I've been on Buzznet for a year! And all I've got to say is... Thank you! I can honestly say that the community is what keeps me coming back. You're all just awesome. Simple as that. So, thanks for being here for me through thick and thin. For being ridiculously funny. For being possibly the smartest people to talk to. For being you! Here's to another year!

May 12, 2009Promise me one thing. If you drink please don't drive. I'm not here to stop you having "fun". Although I hate that you drink. I'm not here to tell you you're a bad person for drinking. Although I do worry about you. I'm not here to scold you... I care about all of you on Buzznet too much to see this happen to you.
I want to see you graduate. I want to see you go to college. I want to see you fall in love. I want to see you get married. I want to see you start a career. I want to see you living your life. One fun night with booze is not worth losing your life, or in this case, the life of another. I might not have known him but he is just another innocent victim of drunk driving. One too many.

March 27, 2009Seasons
Show us the colors that we used to love.
You have been dark and gloomy for too long. You are something we don’t remember of. Winds no longer carry that special song. Your sun refuses to show it’s bright face We go for days without light and forget That there once was color with the human race. Lifeless clouds conceal us in a dark haze. Waiting for spring to bring you back to me. A time when we can breathe and touch the sky. See all your colors, what a view to see. Forever here even after we die. Shed our frozen skin and soak up the sun. Gone for too long, it’s time to have some fun. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ GUESS WHAT GUYS?? My grandpa's here! My happiness just shot through the roof! I've missed him so much! We have a lot of catching up to do. :D

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.Stupid computer. I had to delete all of my files just to log on. AHHH. It deleted all of the photos that I took with my Nikon. AHHH. Thank god for posting things on the internet. But still, it sucks. :/
Hey, guess what...we have a new president! HORRAY!
Prehaps my favorite quoete from the inaugurationin general...
"Few things are more exciting than watching Bush finally release America as his eight year hostage." -Rise Against I was kind of disapointed that not that many kids at my school cared.
One of my least favorite quotes form the inauguration....
"I really could care less about Barack Obama and the inauguration" Maybe it's because I live in a mainly conservative republican city, but seriously????
It's still your country and if YOU don't even care about it, what makes you think that the rest of the world is? It was sad.

November 26, 2008Opinions on Nikon D40 and D60My dad has agreed to buy me a digitial camera (all those years in math class finally payed off! I drew up a complete research on how much it would cost for him to develop the film, and for the film itself, per year and in the end it costs about the same but if you include gas it costs a whole lot more. I didn't even include the summer (in which I take about 100 pictures a day).
ANYWAYS...
i've narrowed it down to either a Nikon D40 or a Nikon D60. If you own/have any experience with these cameras or just the brand I would love your opinion.

November 22, 2008Film PhotographyI was looking through some of my parents old stuff today and to my surprise I came across two Canons, lenses, and filters! I was estatic until... I found out they were film cameras...ahhh! Canon EOS 700 (Early 90's)
Canon AE-1 (from the 80's)
I have no experience with these types of cameras but my anxiety pills must have been working that day and I felt motivated. After four hours on google I found out all about the different lenses, the batteries I had to buy, the filters I wanted, and the film needed. I'm still a little uneasy about this though. I don't have access to a dark room so I don't know how the photos will come out. I would love your tips and advice if you have any experience with film cameras! Thanks in advance!

November 8, 2008My family was robbed on Friday.I came home from school on Friday to my little sister crying. We were robbed. They took my laptop, my camera, my brother's plasma tv, his x-box, all of his game (60+), my sister's t.v., my parnets t.v. all of my dad's saved up money(thousands of dollars), his coin collection (worth thousands), all of my mother's jewlery. Most of the money they took was going to be saved up for our college education or in case of emegercengy. Times are tough right now and with my mother pregnant right now, we can't afford to lose any more money. I won't be posting any photos for a while and I also won't be online that much. (I have another camera that they didn't find but it's really crappy and the computer they left is like form the stone age.). A news station came over to film this afternoon and it will be on TV on Fox 5 @ 10.
the thing that depresses me the most is that all of my photos were on my computer. They might not have been the best but I have spent countless hours working on them and now they are all gone. They were irraplaceable.
My family is a little uneasy right now.Unless this has ever happened to you, you don't know how horrible it is to be in your own house and not feel safe. I'm just happy that my mother and little sister were not in the house when it happened.
God bless, Norma

November 5, 2008I know most of you are sick and tired with politics but I need to put my two cents in.Obama won. There is nothing you can do about it. You can bitch and complain all you want but FACE IT. Obama is your new president wither you like it or not. Take into consideration the words of another well loved Chicagoan, Abraham Lincoln. "A nation divided against itself cannot stand." Now is not the time to be fighting, we should be rejoycing that here in America we even get the choice to choose our own leader. Obama is not going to be the only man running the naion, he will have help from others, yes even Republicans. Now breathe. Take a chill pill. Maybe a nap. Blow off some steam. (I'm looking at you Milton!)
We are not going to die. Say it with me now... We are not going to die. Good.
I can maybe understand about how some people are worried about how "prepared" he is to be president. In all honesty, is anyone prepared for anything these days? We are faced with new challenges every single day and it's not a matter on how prepared we are, it's the abiliy to face these problems head with the stuff you already know. The people that are just against him because of the color of his skin or his name. I have to tell you one thing:
F*** YOU!
Now look what you've done. You've gone and made me all flustered. I shall follow my own advice and just take a nice little nap. Good night Buzznet!

November 4, 2008Living through history. This election is going to go down in history no matter the outcome. I think most of us are too busy fighting about who they want to win though.
I'm feeling a tad helpless at the moment. I have my opinions yet I'm not old enough to vote yet. This election is so important to me. I have a relative in the war and if Obama comes through with his promises of ending the war by 2011, my cousin will be able to come and see me graduate high school. He has always been one of my biggest role models and if came to my graduation and see how far I have come, and how I really couldn't have done it without his support, it would mean the world to me.
I hope you voted today, McCain or Obama. I'm being selfish when it comes to Obama winning. America needs someone who can get us out of this economical slump and if McCain is the man who can do that, well bring him on. It's all unpredictable and it's one of the things that I hate about this election. We need help, and I hope America is smart enough to figure this one out.
